Living in Today: Because Tomorrow Isn’t Promised
Hey sweet friend, Let’s talk about something real today—how we live like we can see the future, like we hold time in our hands. But newsflash: we don’t. I was reading James 4 the other day, and this verse hit me like a ton of bricks: “Now listen, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.’ Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” —James 4:13-14 (NIV) We are not promised tomorrow. Yet, we fill our planners and phones with schedules and events like we’ve got endless time. We say things like “next week I’ll…” or “in five years I’ll…” without a second thought. Dreaming and planning isn’t wrong—in fact, it’s wise when we keep God in the center of it. But when we get so wrapped up in the “what ifs” and “what’s next” that we forget the right now —that’s where we lose sight of God’s goodness in the present...
